Open Water Diver Course

Where to Start?

The first step in Scuba Diving is to earn your Open Water Diver certification. This will give you the skills to dive successfully and safely!
At the end of the course you will be able to dive up to a depth of 60 feet with a certified dive buddy!

How does it work?
All students will start with an online knowledge development. Once completed you will head to the pool to learn your equipment! Then it's off to the open water to do your check out dives. There you will complete 4 dives under the supervision of an instructor. After the successful completion of your fourth dive you will be a certified open water diver.
How much does it cost? The $500 course fee paid to Muddy River Divers includes the online class, pool session and your 4 open water dives with your instructor. Gear will be provided for the class but limited sizes are available on a first come first serve basis.
The Open Water dives will be conducted in Mermett Springs, Illinois. There is a entry fee of $25 to enter the dive quarry. Rental gear is also available on site.

Although not required, we recommend the purchase of your own mask, fins, snorkel and boots. We have packages available with all of the essentials starting at $175.
